If you're only in Datong for a short time then location matters. The hotel tries hard with free canned drinks, welcome dessert and friendly staff but there are no shops next to the hotel at all although you can walk to a local neighbourhood about 700-800m away. The old city wall is not exactly near even if you can see parts of it from your hotel window. There is no subway in Datong so if you're interested in attractions in the old town then you need to factor in taxi costs unless you fancy a bit of a walk in the bitter cold. Breakfast is very local and very substantial.

This is one of the best hotels we stayed in China so far. Great location, close to many historical temples. Great services, extremely clean and great restaurant food and services!
We specifically enjoyed the friendly staffs for helping us navigating the local attractions and arranging local transportation. Front desk managers Liu Hong Juan, Zhang Yu and Liu Ji Qin and many other supporting staffs were all very helpful .
We will definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity to come back!

Datong is amazing but the hotel is better. Liu Hong Juan and Liu Jinquin are very nice working and helping with all our needs. Good breakfast, confortable room and helpfull staff. Excellent

We stay here for one night, The staffs at reception were helpful and friendly. Facilities in room are amazing, There is a tea table inside. And very tidy and clean. Breakfast is really good as well.

Very nice hotel, very clean and cozy in the rooms. The bathroom has all facilities and even detergent. A very tasty drink as a compliment from the hotel. The location is very convenient too. A good Chinese-style breakfast.

Great breakfast buffet. Very helpful staff who pointed out the bus station to the Hanging Temple. They provided pear date soup as a refresher in the evening which I thought was a great service. Also the first hotel to provide 4 bottles of water instead of two.

American couple, we stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Datong. You could easily catch a taxi from the hotel anywhere in the city and the front desk staff (Zhang Zhuan Zhuan, Liu Hong Ivan, Liu Jin Qin) were exceptionally helpful for everything we needed from getting a personal taxi to Hengshan Mountain and Hanging temples to sharing the best places to eat around. Our room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful each morning. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Datong for a visit!
